this one i dont get becos of the direct interation, did he jsut get someone else to hold the cheque in the exact right place so he could stick them together?

this one i dont get becos the camera is panning, im guessing you could do it if you got two pans smooth enough and at the exact same speed but realisticly could that be done? This effect im particulary interested in becos i wish to do a similar effect in my next movie.

    Hey there.

"did he jsut get someone else to hold the cheque in the exact right place so he could stick them together?"

Yup. You can actualy see the split. The first guy isnt holding the check as the second guy takes it.

"this one i dont get becos the camera is panning, im guessing you could do it if you got two pans smooth enough and at the exact same speed but realisticly could that be done?"

Of course. And Im willing to bet that's what they did there.

    Despin out,

I noticed that if you look very, VERY closely at the second clip, watch the background when the camera pan stops, you can see a very slight distortion, which would occur if the two shots where not 100% the same.

But hey, perhaps these are twins ******* with you!

i'm betting he panned twice and then cut out a garbage mask, or a small rectangle around the second clone and layered him on over the first pan and then matched the background with the background in the first clip. frame by frame. to even out the pans.

Ryan_W, will you explain your secrets to us??

Those two are awesom clones. i really like the cats as well.

heh. Sorry I didn't respond yesterday. I read this thread, posted in another and then completely forgot where this thread was. (I'm new around these forums). It just now occured to me to jump back through my history.

    The check nab shot:
Performed with my dad as I hand himt he check and then switch places and do the same thing. Just lucky that 2 shots lined up. It's a simple mask running through the middle and then wipes across the check as it's being snatched. (it distorts for a frame or two)

    The clone walk shot:
Had my dad film me as I performed both of these takes. Clearly you could never have the two shots line up, so one shot had to be hand keyframed to match the other. I had a keyframe about avery 5 frames excapt at the end, when I tried to have more. Then I masked one of me, obviously. Lots of keyframes. Took a while. The problem with this shot was distortion. Even though I put the camera far away and zoomed in, the fact that i was somewhat centered in both clips means the lens distortion is not identical and therefore causes a little distortion (particularly int he ground) where the mask reveals the two shots coming together. Not too noticeable, so I didn't worry about it.
